Tag Group - Number 2 March 2014

Wow! We've has some sunshine this week and doesn't it make a difference to how you feel? Lovely to think that Spring may be on it's way!

This week I had to send off my next tag for the group I'm in, with the theme this month being 'Add a Shape'. Well I started off thinking this was going to be easy as when I was making the DT cards for the new Heartfelt Creation release Once Upon a Time I had this brainwave to use them as they had circle shapes and by sheer coincidence I was due to send my tag to the lovely Karen Clare AKA The Clock Lady!

But oh did I struggle with it lol! Made three different backgrounds just couldn't get it balanced, very nearly ended up in the bin I can tell you. I persisted though and in the end think I got it right :-) .

Lots of work and trying of different techniques -
  • Background embossed and coloured with distress inks and gilding wax.
  • Clocks stamped with HC Numeral Clocks stamp and then covered with Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint
  • Circle sentiment stamped with HC Clock Sentiments stamp and covered with Crystal Laquer
  • Flowers made using HC Sun Kissed Fleur Die, shaped and covered with Frantage
  • Leaf Sprays covered with Peacock Feather Gilding Flakes
  • White sentiment done on the computer

Seemed so appropriate for Karen and I understand she loved it......phew! Tags are great fun to do and give much more scope to experiment than ATCs - already looking forward to making next months!

Thanks for looking and hope you have a super weekend. I'm at Eileen Godwin's workshop on Saturday so really looking forward to that - fab people, scrummy cake, plenty of tea and plenty of chat - oh yes and a bit of crafting in between lol!

Engagement Card

Just a quick card made using Memory Box Butterfly Heart Die and Die-Namics Leafy Flourish Die for a lovely couple who got engaged recently.

I used white linen cardstock and added a few flowers to the flourish and of course a bit of bling for LouLou!

Had a bit of practice with my new toy from Christmas - a Silhouette Portrait machine - excellent for personalising cards. Managed to learn how to 'weld' the letters together from a tutorial on Youtube - phew!

Well the sun is shining, one line of washing out, 2nd in the machine - hope you have a lovely Monday!

Heartfelt Creations - Once Upon a Time

Well here's the full picture of the sneak peek you had last week using the new release from Heartfelt Creations -

Super sets of stamps all related to time, with different clocks, round sentiments and flowers - also comes with a die of circles to fit the clocks. Great fun to use - Mr P thought the black twirls were clock springs and that I was very clever to incorporate them lol ! They're just spirals made with black wire but I wasn't going to disillusion him :-)

So on the above card I've used Stamps - Embrace Time and Time Sentiments: Dies - Once Upon a Time, Sun Kissed Fleur and Falling Leaves : Papers - Once Upon A Time all by Heartfelt Creations.

This release is fab for men's cards so here's one I made using Stamps - Numeral Clocks and Time Sentiments: Dies - Once Upon a Time : Papers - Once Upon A Time all by Heartfelt Creations. I used Time Holtz clear Distress Crackle Paint on the watch faces and inked them to give a verdigris effect.

And finally a clean and simple effect by using blue and white -

On the above card I've used Stamps - Floral Clocks, Numeral Clocks,Time Sentiments and Alarm and Watch: Dies - Once Upon a Time, Sun Kissed Fleur all by Heartfelt Creations.

Great versatility with these stamp sets they're to be released on 12th March and are available in the UK from Oyster Stamps, Rochester, Kent - Telephone 01634 686823 or Website http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk. If you live near enough it's worth a visit to the shop, always a friendly greeting and often a cuppa while you have a natter and swap tips and ideas. Looking forward to a visit this year from Heartfelt Creations who will be doing workshops around the country - check out Oysters for more details of where they'll be near you this summer and to book!

Lavinia Challenge Blog Number 3 - Add Something Pink

Hi - huge thanks to everyone who entered last month's challenge, loads of smashing entries! Well done to the winner, I know you'll have fun picking out £40 worth of goodies from the Lavinia web shop. Hope you'll all have a go this month where our theme is Add Something Pink - remember you don't need to blog, just email your entry in via the link on the website or click here - couldn't be easier!

This month I thought I'd try Lavinia's super fabric images, yes that's right you can get Lavinia designs to print out on your own printer onto special fabric sheets and add them to your sewing projects! Here's my first go made using one of the lovely images available.......
I am no professional sewer but I have been sewing for some years as me Mam taught me to sew, along with knitting, crochet - all the basic crafts. So simple to use, I've done some quick tutorials  which I've posted separately - click on the Tutorials label in the list of labels at the top of my blog if you want to take a look.

My other entry in this month's  DT  is a tag I made using Lavinia Stamps - Dandelion  ( great value with 3 stamps in the set) and Hop, Skip and Jump, such a sweet image. I also used a Sweet Poppy Stencil  - Agapanthus (designed by Lavinia) and  a Memory Box Die - Chesapeake Scrollwork. First step was to stamp the dandelions and I used Slate and Wild Plum Adirondack inks on a Maja Design paper. Then I did the stencil using white stencil paste and a vibrant pink glitter. That had to be left to dry so I got on with the fairy image, stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with my pens. I then cut it out and added a bit of Glamour Dust to her wings. When the stencil paste was dry I added Glamour Dust to the dandelions, matted and layered everything up and added a few flowers and some ribbon - et voila!

Two very different projects this month which I hope might wet your appetite to have a go.

Stamps from Lavinia Stamps; Stencil and paste from Sweet Poppy Stencils; Downloadable image for fabric, and Cotton Fabric Printing Sheets from Lavinia Stamps.

Have a fab March (spring is nearly here - hurrah!) and thank you so much for looking and following - can't wait to see your makes ..........I'm off to see if you can use Spellbinders with the fabric - next project here I come, watch this space!!
