Monochrome Christmas Cards

Phew, been so busy catching up - where does the time fly to ? Had a fab weekend with my eldest daughter and son in law and now planning for another with my youngest daughter and family - happy days.

Having done so much colouring lately I wanted to make some with no colour and I'm quite pleased with how they came out.........

Penny Black 'Little Hamlet' and Hobby Art 'Country View'
Such a shame that glitter doesn't always show up in photos as it really lifts the card and looks like frost on the trees and rooftops.

Hobby Art 'Woodland Glade Scene Set and 'Church View'
I may not be able to blog again before Christmas,  I really hope you all have a lovely Christmas whether it be quiet or hectic, so here are some Christmas wishes from my house to yours ........ xxx

Oyster Retreat November 2014 Projects

What a fab time I had on the Oysters Retreat this weekend. Crafting with my good friends Eileen Godwin and Martine Smith, I demonstrated colouring with lots of  lovely crafters at the Hellidon Lakes Hotel in Daventry. I've made lots of new friends and it was such a great atmosphere of fun and learning !

Details of what I used -
Carrier bags available from http://www.carrierbagshop.co.uk/  15 x 20 x8cms
Mo Manning designs 'Little Elf Present' and 'Little Elf Mim'
Dies - Little B Die Star, Memory Box Snowflake and Creative Expressions Classic 3D Bow

Images coloured with alcohol pens and highlighted with Glamour Dust.

For those of you who were asking I recommend taking a look at the fabulous Alyce Keegan's website http://kitandclowder.ning.com/home  where you can learn more about techniques for colouring. Alyce also has a Facebook page - Kit and Clowder.

Christmas crafting fun - everyone from the Oyster Retreat had a great time with lots of laughter. The next one is in March 2015 - not to be missed !

Penny Black - Prancers

I have seen some fantastic designs lately where a designer (Mayuri) uses lots of bright Distress Inks to form a picture, and I took inspiration from this for this first card. You can see the original version here - http://candlesinthegarden.wordpress.com/2014/10/29/ww-october-release-day-2/.
I had a similar stamp from a Penny Black set called Prancers which features fir trees and stylised deer.

I used bright Distress Inks to create the background then over stamped in black ink at the front. I cut a curve and edged with Glamour Dust before attaching it with foam pads and adding the Memory Box Die 'Leaping Deer' cut in gold card.

Here's a card and tag using the same set of stamps with the trees done in white embossing powder on kraft card ...............

Busy busy with lots of Christmas prep as I know lots of you are also. Hope to see some of you at the Oysters Open Day on Sunday , lots of us there including Eileen and Martine along with Janet, Kerry and Barbara. Knowing Oysters it will be a fun day !

Impression Obsession

Love this background stamp from Impression Obsession and I was inspired by an Ellen Taylor design. See her original card here -
http://theserendipitousstamper.blogspot.ca/2014/09/beautiful-backgrounds-impression.html

I made my version by stamping the image  (Time Worn Roses L9372) with DI Vintage Photo before simply colouring with pink and green pens and adding a few embellishments from my stash.

The sentiment is from Quietfire Designs which are available from Oyster Stamps, Rochester, Kent - Telephone 01634 686823 or Website http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk

Honey Doo Crafts

Busy few weeks at the moment, trying like mad to keep up and then catch a rotten cold - grrrr! Getting over it now and looking forward to another colouring teaching class tomorrow at Oysters, then it's Christmas Open Day there on the 23rd and to finish the month off I'm teaching at the Oyster Retreat in Daventry .... phew ! Hope to see some of you on one of those days? Can't tell you what my project for the retreat is ...........ssh! secret, but there will be some colouring demonstrations and a sample or two for everyone to make and use over Christmas. Nearly done all the prep now - ready to rock and roll !

Had a fabulous time demoing at the Sincerely Yours Show at Tonbridge - the day just flew by it was so busy. Great to meet and catch up with everyone including the lovely Kay and Amanda Fletcher from Honey Doo Crafts. So sad to have stepped down from their design team, unfortunately I am having to cut back as my wrist is playing up and I am struggling with certain things. So nice to be told I am welcome back any time and hopefully that won't be too long as I do enjoy using Amanda's fabulous stamps.

Also had great fun at a Paul Church workshop the other week with some crafty buddies, here's a Honey Doo card made using a technique from Paul - Brushos,  shaving foam and a stencil. Gives a lovely background effect to the Honey Doo stamp 'Butterfly Border' ........

And finally a card made using 'Hearts A Flutter' stamped and embossed in pale pink with a few die cuts to embellish it .......

Hope you all have a great weekend, thanks for looking x

Yay! Autumn, one of my favourite seasons, love the colours - 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' says it all really. Been busy stocking up the jam cupboard with all the lovely fruits of the season, I always look forward to stocking up the cupboards ready for winter.
So we're into October now, well done to the winner of last month's Lavinia Stamps challenge and well done to everyone else too who entered the challenge, fantastic art work such a joy and inspiration to see!

With £40 of Lavinia vouchers as the prize each month what have you got to lose.......AND there are some stunning new stamps out now on the Lavinia website !

Inkylicious Daisy Fields

Lovin' the stamps from Inkylicious at the moment, seems to fit the season so well to me.

The flowers and butterflies are from a set called Daisy Fields and the lovely sentiment is from Wild Meadows, how true are those words at the moment ' A misty morning does not signify a cloudy day'. We've had a few autumnal misty mornings this week so had to smile when I read this.

Stamps - Inkylicious Daisy Fields and Wild Meadow
Distress Inks - Brushed Corduroy, Spiced Marmalade, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Weathered Wood with clear Wink of Stella on the sun.

All products available from Oyster Stamps, Rochester, Kent - Telephone 01634 686823 or Website http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk

Inkylicious - Wild Meadow

Well I'm obviously going through a moon phase - must have been influenced by the recent supermoon so look out there are a few more in my head waiting to come out !

Really wish I could photograph glitter better as it so doesn't sparkle in the photo like it does in real life and it's the contrast of sparkle against the dark inks that I like on this card.

There, that's a little better! Wink of Stella on the moon and Glamour Dust on the flower heads.

Stamps used - Wild Meadow by Inkylicious
Distress Inks - Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss for the background. The moon is coloured with Weathered Wood and Antique Linen.

All items available from Oyster Stamps, Rochester, Kent - Telephone 01634 686823 or Website http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk

Inkylicious Stamps

Oysters have got some new stamps in from Inkylicious - super ones with trees, wild flowers and grasses, perfect for making up scenes.

They also had this one with reindeers on which reminded me of one of our trips to the lovely Somerset moors. I made the background with autumnal colours because that is one of my favourite times to go down there, then I set it on a larger piece of cream card and stamped a couple of trees to break it up a bit.

Stamps used - Reindeers ; Bare Trees
Distress Inks - Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Aged Mahogany.
Copic Pens - E31; E15 ; E17

Lots of other Inkylicious stamps in stock so I'm going to be playing with them for a while!

Just to update you, my colouring workshop is coming up soon, it's fully booked but there is a reserve list if you are interested. After that I'll be demoing at the Sincerely Yours Papercraft Show in Biggin Hill in November - hope to see some of you there. Thank you for looking.

Lavinia Stamps Challenge 9 - Add Some RIbbon

Congratulations to the winner of the Lavinia Stamps challenge 8 - lucky you to have £40 to spend on their website where Tracey has just issued some fab new designs! ooh decisions decisions .......enjoy and have fun. There were some gorgeous entries last month, so lovely to see all the different ideas people have using this versatile range of stamps.

This month the challenge is to Add Some Ribbon........

........here's one idea I had for the new challenge using buff card as a backing and then stamping the Dandelions and Sentiment onto die cut shapes before adding some gingham ribbon. Quite like the simplicity of it - lol will probably go on to make a really fussy and OTT one next knowing me !

On a similar theme here's another one I made using white EP and the Hop, Skip and Jump stamp .........

Hope you'll enjoy having a go this month, remember you can enter by email now via the Lavinia Stamps website or simply click HERE or via the Lavinia Challenge Blog. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your entries !

Thanks for looking and don't forget to check out the rest of the teams fabulous blogs for different ideas.
