Lavinia Challenge Blog 7 - Add a Flower - Design 3

Phew! Where is September going? Have you had time to enter the Lavinia Challenge yet? There's still a bit of time left if you've been meaning to and haven't got round to it yet - £40 prize to spend in the online shop!

This is the last of my 3 designs for this month's theme - Add a Flower. This is a 3D tag with the Fairy Bridge on the base tag and Wild Flower, Group Poppy and Flower Fairy on the front tag. After stamping and colouring both backgrounds with Panpastels I cut the top tag (around the images at the bottom) and attached to the base tag with foam pads to give it some dimension. A bit of Glamour Dust and ribbon  - eh voila! Fairy peeping through the flowers at the moon.

I've been checking out the blog and there are some inspirational designs sent in! If you're still searching for your inspiration why not visit the other design team's blogs as well? Thank you for looking x

Lavinia Challenge Blog 7 - Add a Flower - Design 2

Well we're part way through the month so I thought I'd blog another of my designs for the Lavinia Challenge Blog. Fabulous prize of a £40 voucher to spend in the online shop!

This month's theme is Add a Flower and I wanted to show you this CAS design because one of the things I hear from friends is that Lavinia is 'just fairies'. Well not a fairy in sight here! There is a great range of floral and landscape stamps and on this card and matching tag I have used just one stamp - Wild Flower . The vase was drawn freehand. The stamp is a silhouette stamp and so I used my Distress Inks to stamp and then went around the outline with a black Pilot Pen for definition - it was one of those lightbulb moments for me when I realised if it's a silhouette it doesn't have to be black! Already obvious to many of you I know - but it takes me a while sometimes to catch on lol !

So one stamp can make any number of cards, VFM I call that! x

Heartfelt Creations - HCPC 3398 Bella Rose Wedding

Here's a 3 in 1 design I've adapted from a design I saw on The Maja Designs Blog by Camilla Stoen Bakke. I've been using their papers for a while now - because they are so gorgeous, and often check their blog for inspiration. We're off to a wedding soon and I thought this would be a good idea to hold a gift voucher or cheque as requested by the happy couple.

First of all I made a pouch using pearlised card, the front of the pouch is matted and layered with co-ordinating papers and embellished with Memory Box dies Butterfly Vine and La Rue Heart. I coloured and decoupaged the stamped image from Heartfelt Creations before adding some blinged lace and some flowers.

The small tag is made using a Magnolia die and has the couples names on using Memory Box Parker Alphabet (would need to rethink this if they had bigger names!!). This tag slips under the top mat on the pouch to the right.

The large tag or insert , which goes inside the pouch, is made using pearlised card and matted and layered before adding another piece of lace and a sentiment. A smaller tag from Magnolia is attached to make it easier to pull out and put back.

A smattering of fairy dust (aka Glamour Dust) and it's done!

Stamp and dies available from Oyster Stamps, Rochester, Kent.

Impression Obsession- Branches of a tree

Thought it was about time I got my Panpastels out, I've been practising with the new metallic ones too but not ready to show yet!

I wanted to carry on having a go with different sky styles and found these stamps at Oysters which I thought would be lovely against a coloured early morning sky. The pastels are so suited to this style as you can add or rub out until you get the blending how you want - good fun.

As my focus was the sky I kept the foreground very simple  blending just two colours - Chromium Oxide Green Tint and Turquoise Extra Dark. The sky is a mixture of Ultramarine Blue, Ultramarine Blue Tint, Magenta and Diarylide Yellow Tint.

Glamour Dust added to the tree to highlight the morning rays on maybe an early frost! There are a lot more stamps in the set, bare branches, leaves and blossoms which I haven't used.

Thank you for following and hello to my new followers x

Clarity Challenge Blog 7 - Vintage

Well that's it - August is done and dusted, the last few early mornings have felt really autumnal although we've had some hot days to follow them. With the start of a new month we say well done to the winners from the last Clarity Challenge Blog - as usual some fabulous entries. I love to see how people interpret the Claritystamps with a different view - so inspirational to see, thank you.

The new challenge is 'Vintage' and here is my interpretation - High Tea - yummy cake and a cup of tea lol !

I used the Kitchen Remountable Stamps for the cake, stand, plate and cup of tea coloured with my Spectrum Noir pens, the Wrought Iron Chandelier and the Tea Verse from Claritystamps  to make this card. The table cloth was simply hand drawn on a piece of paper - lots of rubbing out before I got it right! - and used as a stencil on some backing paper I had and white linen card for the top cloth. Of course with high tea you must have a matching napkin - again practised the shape on paper before cutting out on a matching scrap of backing paper.

Some lace, some pearls and a bit of Frantage and we're done...

There are some fabulous Vintage samples for you to see by the rest of the design team over on the Claritystamps Blog so why not pop over and take a look - hope you'll have a go and can't wait to see your ideas ! Happy September everyone x

Lavinia Blog Challenge 7 - Add a Flower

Soooooo excited to show my first sample as a member of the Lavinia Stamps Design Team! I've been entering the blog challenge since it started as I love their stamps  so you can imagine the happy dances I was doing when I was asked to join another talented DT.

This month's challenge is 'Add a Flower' and I must say my inspiration for this design came from Messrs Fripp, McDonald, Lake and Giles who wrote a beautiful song back in the 60's called Moonchild for the King Crimson Album 'Court of the Crimson King' - anyone else remember this? There's a blast from my hippie past for you!

I do have an unfortunate habit of thinking with song lyrics - can be a bit annoying at times as unless I get them out of my head I'm humming them all day lol! So anyway, I thought why am I humming this song and of course realised that Lavinia Stamps were ideal to create my moonchild dancing in the shallows of a river .......

I used Mia and Fairy Bridge clear stamps from Lavinia to make my scene on linen card, using Panpastels to create a moon, sky and foreground. I wanted to get a sort of 'tween stage feel - you know when night starts changing to day, just before the full dawn. I added Glamour Dust and some lovely flowers I had including a white or moon lily and there you have it....

I have made some other interpretations of this month's theme which I'll blog later in the month but in the meantime why not take a look at what the other members of the team have done on the Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog and maybe have a go yourself? Hope you have fun x

NB married to a musician I am mindful of the music copyright laws and would state that the use of these lyrics is for research and inspiration only. This card is not for sale.
