My Funny Valentine

Oh I love that song, especially the version by Chet Baker, which was played at our wedding. It just sends shivers down your spine.......anyway here is my funny valentine card for my dearly beloved.

Always hard to make cards for men I find, no lace, no ribbons, but hey I got a charm and some bling on !

This is an adaption of a design Eileen Godwin (Eileens Crafty Zone ) showed us at a recent PanPastels workshop. At the time we made a thank you card but the principle is so suited to any type of card.

So first of all I cut a strip of white linen card and coloured it with red and yellow PanPastels, blending to orange. After sealing I used the Leafy Swirl Clarity stamp and 3 colours of ink to create the image and then with Versafine Ink I stamped a sentiment, again from Clarity. I matted this onto gold mirri card. The tag is a Magnolia one called Romance, again cut from linen card, blended as before and stamped with Leafy Swirl. This time I added a charm - I love you and tied it on with gold twine. I matted the base card with gold mirri and cream linen card stock then stuck the banner and tag on. It looked a bit empty at first but I wanted to keep it simple so I drew a wiggly black line to sort of join the components up.

There you have it - my funny valentine - 'cos it doesn't say valentine anywhere on it but I think the sentiment says enough ! Thanks for looking x

'Tulips' - Little Winged Friends

This is the last of my purchases (for now!) of Bildmalarna stamps, sweet little image isn't it? I'm entering this one in four blog challenges -

  • Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge
  • Bildmalarna Challenge
  • My Time To Craft
  • I Love Promarkers
The F&F Challenge is for a design based on circles - as I have recently bought the circles dies from Spellbinder I thought that was right up my street, the Bildmalarna challenge must use their stamp image, the MTTC is 'Things with Wings' and I Love Promarkers is 'Anything Goes' so thought I'd have a go.

Stamps – Bildmalarna stamp 'Tulips - Little Winged Friends'  and a sentiment stamp from the LOTV set 8 ‘Happy Circular Sentiments’. The image stamp was coloured with Promarkers and Polychromos pencils with Glamour Dust on the wings and tulips and then all the toppers were distressed around the edges using Tim Holtz Old Paper.

Dies – Spellbinders Standard and Lacy Circle.

Background – Maja Design 'Shall we have Coffee?' range.

Embellishments –Lace from my stash and crystals from Hobbycraft.

Finally a thanks to my new followers and comments received from fellow crafters around the world. x

Trying out different colour combinations at the moment, so here's a birthday card for my friend Val in turquoise and beige.

Love these Little Winged Friend stamps from Bildmalarnas!

Background – Maja Design Papers 'Shall We Have Coffee' range.
Embellishments  – Lace, Ribbon and Butterfly from my stash; Pearls from Hobbycraft.; Charm from Live and Love Crafts

I'm having a go at entering challenge blogs so this one is entered into 'Stampin' for The Weekend' - Something Girlie.
Well it looks like Blogger has resolved it's issues with Internet Explorer as I was able to insert my picture using compose and not HTML, hurrah! Makes it just a bit easier when blogging and I need easy at the moment! x

Helene

Here we have Helene, a stamp by Jayne Nestorenko from her  Patchwork Polly range. Super little cutie made for a birthday for a friend coming up. The actual construction is quite simple, the colouring takes a bit of time. Especially as I'm trying to use the polychromos pencils which take a bit of getting used to.

Luckily I like colouring in!

Stamps –Little girl and flowers - Jayne Nestorenko 'Helene' from her Patchwork Polly range, balloon from 'Olivia' and sentiment from 'Jenny'in the same range. All images coloured with Promarkers and Polychromos pencils and dusted with Glamour Dust. Balloon heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Dies – Spellbinders Lacy Circle and Standard Circles.

Background – Papers by Maja Design

Embellishments - gems from my stash.

I am so struggling with Blogger at the moment, what looks fine in writing then jumps all over the place in preview! Fingers crossed this publishes OK. x

Drummer Boy

Yaay! And here's my little drummer boy's birthday card - he looks nothing like this in real life lol but at least I coloured the drum kit the right colour to match his real kit :-) Geoff,  my husband, is a drummer and has played for many years. In the past he has played support to some famous names like the Who, Small Faces and Manfred Mann. Now he just enjoys playing in a couple of bands in local pubs and venues, keeps him busy in his retirement from his 'proper job' !

Stamps – Whimsey - ‘Buggin' Drummer ' and a sentiment stamp from the LOTV set 8 ‘Happy Circular Sentiments’. The other sentiment is from Clarity Stamps. The image stamp was coloured with Promarkers and a silver Pilot pen to highlight the chrome bits.

Dies – Spellbinders Lacy Circle for the smaller sentiment.

Background – Freebie papers from a magazine

A simple card but it meant the world to him 'cos I made it x

More Pans at Eileen's Workshop

Another super workshop from Eileen Godwin (Eileen's Craft Zone), great to meet up with friends from the previous one and some Clarity friends who travelled quite a way to get there. Now find I need to buy more pans, modelling paste, stencils and a gorgeous Penny Black stamp called Fantasy Tree. Can't find it anywhere at the moment but will keep looking.....

Here are some of the things I made -

The first one makes you shiver just looking at it and seems appropriate at the moment as it's so cold! I used pans to colour and then stencilled with modelling paste which I then sprinkled Glamour Dust on to. Once dry I then stamped around the edges with 2 colours of ink and 'Fantasy Tree' and added some gems.

The one on the right is a simple blending of 2 colours with a Lavinia stamp and a Clarity sentiment. A few gems added just to lift it a bit and finished with a ribbon.

This is a Lavinia stencil, called Poppy but we all thought it was a fuschia! Either way it is beautiful with the paste and glitter treatment. Then simply matted onto mirri board, added a few gems and mounted on a card - seemples!
More Lavinia stamps to create this lovely scene. Used a moon mask positive and negative to create the background before stamping the images.

And finally a card using Versamark and the resist method plus the dreaded shrink plastic!! Need to remember when using the Versamark to dab the pan pastels so they are absorbed in before you start swirling the colour to blend. As Sue said 'dib dab dob and then swirly whirly' ! Not sure about the shrink plastic, personally feel it's too 'heavy' looking but then I did have to be rescued by Eileen from a near fatality of the butterfly!

Another fab day with some lovely people, thanks to Eileen for her patience and persistence and to  Chris (My Crafty Card Place) for her added assistance and for sharing both her knowledge and her crafty goodies with me! Already looking forward to the next one ! x

My Little Cat

 My Little Cat

Thought I'd have a change from making cards and made this door hanger for my craft room. Isn't it sweet lol ! I went to town a bit but then it isn't being posted anywhere so I could add as much as I wanted really :-) Thought I'd use my blog name, it isn't really a cupboard but at the moment it is piled high with boxes and books from the conservatory which is being replaced next week. I'm going to have to have another clearout when the conservatory is done as the mess doesn't go with my posh new door plaque!
Stamps – Bildmalarna - ‘My Little Cat’ coloured with promarkers and polychromos pencils then dusted with Glamour Dust. Still practising with  my new pencils but liking most of what I do with them as they really highlight the colouring.

Dies – Spellbinders Grand Labels 23 and Lacey Circles and Standard Circles : Magnolia Romantic Labels : Memory Box Magic Flourish and Blooming Poinsetta dusted with Glamour Dust

Background – 1921 and1922 Vintage Summer Basics by Maja Design - both sides - mounted onto card.

Embellishments – Charms, pearls and ribbon from Live and Love Crafts

Shades of Grey

Just a quick post for now - lots of catching up to do and struggling with the changes Blogger has imposed on us!

This was my ATC for the Clarity Group I'm in for this month, with the brief 'Shades of Grey'. (This is not the one Barbara has recently set up, this is a seperate group of some of us who attended Cowden.) Actually really hard to do with such a limited palette, but it seems to have gone down well with many lovely comments on FB from everyone.

'That truly is fantastic.' 'Stunning.....very atmospheric . xx' .............just a few of the comments which made my day, thank you.

I used the last NDC stamp from Clarity - Quirky Cottage and stamped that first onto linen card then masked it off while I stamped the other images.

I used Slate Adirondak ink for the sky and to create the hills in the background and mounds in the front. The tufts of grass were made using the top of one of the tree stamps and I created the pathway the same way, just joined them up with a pilot pen in black. I used Promarkers from the Cool Grey range to colour it in.

Had a slight mishap stamping the fence - the stamp didn't quite join up properly! Turned out to be a happy accident as I used a poppy die cut in black card of a sitting cat and stuck it on to cover my mistake which everyone loved - it also helped with the perspective I think. Just love happy accidents when they work out! x
